Playing piano isn't a sport, but it's still it's important to keep in mind how you sit and move your hands to make it easier for you to play and to stop you from experiencing back and joint pain πŸ’ͺ

Here are a few things to keep in mind before & during each practice session.

  1. Sit up straight. You should feel your sitting bones on the bench. πŸͺ‘

  2. Keep your elbows at the height of the keys. If possible, adjust your seat to make sure of this. ↔️

  3. Maintain a loose, comfortable, and flexible hand position πŸ™Œ The tighter your hands, the harder it is to shift positions and stretch your hands.

  4. Eliminate tension (spine, shoulders, elbows, wrists). Take a second to notice any tension and shake out the area(s) you feel it in.Β πŸ‘€

  5. Keep your feet flat on the ground πŸ‘£
