Yes! If you don’t have access to a physical piano or keyboard, you can still get started using touch-based courses in the app.

📱 What are touch-based courses?

Touch-based courses let you play using an on-screen keyboard directly on your device.

Instead of listening to a real piano, Simply Piano responds to your taps on the screen, so that you can start learning and practicing right away.

🎧 Which courses use the touch screen?

Simply Piano currently includes two touch-based courses:

  • Touch Intro

  • Stay in Touch

These courses are designed to help you:

  • Get familiar with the basics

  • Practice using the on-screen keyboard

  • Start learning even without a piano

🔍 Where can I find them?

You can find the touch-based courses in the course menu:

  • If you selected that you don’t have a piano, Touch Intro may appear at the start of your course path

  • Otherwise, scroll to the end of the course list to find them

⚠️ Can I use the touch screen in all courses?

No. The on-screen keyboard is only available in touch-based courses.

Most Simply Piano courses are designed to work with a real piano or keyboard, so the app can listen to what you play and give real-time feedback.

🔄 Switching between touch and piano

If you’d like to switch to using a real piano or keyboard:

  • Tap on 'Change Course' to go back to the course menu

  • Choose a course like Piano Basics or Essentials

These courses use sound detection instead of the touch screen.

⭐️ Good to know

Touch-based courses are a great way to:

  • Try out the app

  • Learn basic skills

  • Practice when you don’t have access to a piano

To continue progressing through most courses, you’ll need a physical piano or keyboard.

💡 Some learners may also see a separate section in the app with additional activities they can do without a piano. You can read more about it here.
