Setting Up Your iRig HD2 with Simply Guitar

Congratulations on your new iRig! 🎉


Pairing your iRig with Simply Guitar will give you awesome note recognition on your iPhone or iPad, making your practice sessions smoother and more fun.

⚠️ Heads Up: Simply Guitar supports using iRig HD2, on iOS devices only.

We don’t yet support the newer iRig HD X model.

Just a few quick steps to get set up:

  1. Install the AmpliTube app, the official app for iRig devices

  2. In the AmpliTube, head to Menu > Settings and turn on "Background Audio"

    1. This makes sure your iRig can send sound to Simply Guitar even while AmpliTube runs in the background.

  3. Plug the USB cable from your iRig into your iPhone or iPad

  4. Plug your headphones into the headphone jack on the iRig

  5. Take a regular ¼” guitar cable: one end goes into your guitar, the other into the Guitar In port on the iRig

  6. Open Simply Guitar on your device - you should now hear your guitar through both AmpliTube and Simply Guitar in your headphones!

  7. Adjust the overall volume using the knob on your iRig

  8. And that’s it, you’re ready to play! 🎸
