Yes! You’ve taken your first step towards becoming a guitar player. Here are a few tips to kickstart your musical adventure.
Sit comfortably
Sit down on a comfortable chair, preferably without armrests and wheels.
Keep your both feet on the floor.
Keep your back straight and your shoulders relaxed.
Rest your right arm on the upper part of the guitar body. (If you play left-handed, do the same but with your left arm)
If you find yourself straining, try to adjust your sitting position (use a mirror if you have one) so you're not in any pain.
📱 Remove the case of your iPhone or iPad, place it in front of you (preferably propped up), and stay close to your device while playing.
Here's how all of the above looks like:
Tune your guitar
Don't forget to tune your guitar before every playing session, with Simply Guitar's tuner, to ensure a good sound.

Build up your practice slowly
Playing 15 minutes a day is enough to build up your practice. You will learn a lot in a short time with our bite-sized lessons.
Remember: you need to use force only at the tips of your fingers in order to produce a clean sound. This may cause some pain at first and possibly visible “lines” at the tips of your fingers. It is perfectly normal and even a "badge of honor" for guitar players. If it feels too much, just take a break and come back to it later.
