PLAY (iOS only) is a section in Simply Guitar that lets you strum along to your favorite songs with chords and lyrics all in one place. It’s a new way of playing that’s perfect for practicing rhythm and enjoying music - without the pressure of being graded.
💡 You'll need a subscription to be able to unlock PLAY.
🎸 How it works
To start using PLAY, you’ll need to finish Guitar Basics III, then you’re all set!
Tap the PLAY icon in the left-hand menu to jump in (just make sure to rotate your device, PLAY works in portrait mode!). From there, you can pick a song and start playing along right away.
As you play, you’ll see:
Lyrics and chords together on screen
The song scrolling automatically as it plays
Options to choose a basic or full strumming version, depending on your level
At the top of each song, you’ll find all the chords you need. Tap any chord to get extra help, including diagrams, images, and even short videos.
Some songs also include tutorial videos to help you get the hang of things 😃.

💡 Good to know
PLAY is currently available on iOS only
PLAY is designed for fun and practice, it doesn’t check for right/wrong notes
It’s all about building confidence with strumming and playing along with real songs
